Have a chance to get some really nice 14x6 vintage wheels for my car…they are zero offset, which if I’m not mistaken means 3” BS and 3” to the front? I don’t think that will work as most stock wheels are 6” wide with 4” BS..I have an 8” rear end in my car

    what are some thoughts here

You are correct. Zero offset means that the mounting surface is half of the wheel width.

Which 8-inch rear, as in how wide is it? The original rear in these is 56-inches.

The original wheels are biased inward, as in more backspacing. The reason for this is that the outer wheel houses tip inward as they go up. That leaves you with less room for tire on the outside.

I have 15x7's with 4-inch backspacing on my Falcon. While those are 1-inch wider than what you are looking at, that inch is inboard. My wheels have the same 3-inches on the outside that the wheels you are considering have.

Before I made custom outer wheel houses, the rear tires would not clear the wheel houses.

My rear axle is an 8.8 that is 56-1/2-inches wide, so take that into consideration.

  3. Standard wheel backspacing for most Fords in that era is 4.25", so I doubt those will fit in the rear wheel wells as-is. And IIRC, the OEM wheels were either 5" or 5.5" wide. I managed to fit a set of 15x7 with 215/60R tires, I needed a 4.5" backspace for those and they just fit...

I believe those measurements are correct.

There just is not much room outboard, and not a lot of choices in wheels with extra deep backspacing.

  5. Yeah, I spent well over two hours looking in wheel catalogs trying to find a wheel that I liked the style of that also had the backspacing I needed. There weren't a lot of choices....

Yep…figured as much, went and measured my wheels…6” with 4” back space..man they would’ve looked killer on my car and the price was definitely right..oh well..

Cut-to-fit axle shafts are available in 28-spline.

Narrow the housing 2-inches, or 3.
