    Hey guys,

My 1st real post here other than intro awhile back.
the 1950 plymouth im messing with is 6volt + ground I dont think theres anything so much wrong with it but would like to convert to 12 - ground. I found the Alternator and know i have to use a 12 to 6 volt reducer on the amp gauge and gas gauge.

Is there anything else m missing? Will the same points and dist and coil work or have to get dif ones?

    Thanks again,
    Cmanf

don't forget the temp gauge, and you'll have to change all the light bulbs, starter relay and coil to 12v. help me if i've missed something.

Don't forget about the clock if you've got one and the blower motor. I replaced my horn relay and horns, but a lot of guys don't from what I have read. I am still using my 6V starter relay without any issue.

The amp gauge does not care what voltage only amps. Gauges need voltage reducer. points ok should replace condensor and coil as they have been run + ground and won't like the polarity change, also need a ballast resistor or resistor wire or resisted coil. All bulbs need changed and wiper motor if electric. Heater blower motor needs changed or a heavy duty resistor. 6 volt wire is ok for 12 volt because when you have lower voltage according to ohms law you have higher amperage. Hope this helps. What transmission is in the car? I have a 50 Desoto with Fluid Drive and from what I understand it is almost impossible to go from 6 to 12v without trans shifting issues. I would ***ume you have standard 3 speed, but wanted to make you aware.
