I'm new here. Great info here. I usually lurk around the posts and try to get answers. But anyway I have 6x2 setup on my sbc 350 with 6 Holley 94's and have blocked outers and I'm just running 2 center primary for now...until later. It starts and idles perfect but as soon as I throttle in gear it coughs and stutters. First I blocked the power valves.....no good!... Changed power valves to 5.5..... No good...now 3.5 and a little better,...I running a Mallory Unilite, main question, why would blocked power valves react same as 5.5 power valves...FYI, I repair appliances for a living and am not a mechanic, I just tinker the best I can!..thanks for any help.....!
You noticed a difference changing from 5.5 to 3.5 PV's. Are the end carbs completely sealed off, i.e: plates over the openings, or just disconnected? What jets are you running?, float levels? Did you check the floats for leakage by holding them in hot water?
Completely blocked off with plates... Jets are 50 I believe....I think somehow it's manifold vacuum or distributor related?....3.5 would be ok if I had big cam, but mine is stock/mild... Didn't really inspect carbs because I bought from a reputable place, I believe.. (Vintage speed in Florida)And were sold to me as rebuilt/ ready to go?....I have a MSD 8360 that I may swap?
this is a good read. Might help http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/fuel-multi-carb-tips.77680/
Here is a little bit easier to read version with punctuation and paragraphs http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...rb-tech-linkage-jets-etc.415684/#post-4535144
You stated the car starts and idles fine, but sputters in gear on acceleration? Can you rev the engine while in neutral/park? What model 94's are they? Are the advance ports blocked? If you got the carbs from Charlie I'm sure he'll answer any questions you have.
yeah, I can rev it up in park just fine...no stumbling. Not too sure model # on 94's?....but the vacuum ports are blocked on the carbs.
