Anyone done this? Im curious as to whether or not the port configuration would allow you to run it (well on the street) as a 4x2 with 2 of the carbs blocked off for looks only ? Anyone does this and did it work? Rat
It might be a Weiand or Edelbrock 6x2....possibly a McGurk as well. Not sure yet, it depends what I can score.... Rat
Well to answer your question, yes, a lot of folks have done it. And since it sounds like you will run the four outters and block off the center two, you'll have less issues related to manifold design. Some manifolds with small runners and small, or no, balance tubes don't flow well with some carbs blocked off. Especially if trying to run off the center two. Using the outter four places the carbs right over the intake ports on the SBC and should work well.
Why not just run it progessive??, you can set the center carbs so far down the throttle that you never hit them, but then you aint faking it!
If you could find 2 of the carb block off plates that came with this 55 3 deuce setup then it would be real spiffy. Probably very hard to find though. Funny how something from 1955 is frowned on today.
Yeah, I hear ya re running with two faked but I dont think a mild 283 is gonna cope well with 900 cfm of carburetion with an auto/heavy car. Thanx for the info guys ! Rat
Hmmmm maybe put a thin piece of metal under the centre two and run all four corners as primaries with straight linkage, solder or plug the fuel nipples on your fuel log that go to the centres etc If you want to compare any differences in manifolds I have an Edelbrock C67 manifold which i believe is from around 1962.
i am running a sbe with 6x2 and all six are going and i have very little problem with it once i got the carbs tuned in. Mine are not on a progresive set up and it runs strong! don't fake it and run all six
