I occasionally went next door to see the classics the body shop I was renting from worked on. Well, a 1967 mustang that this guy dumped ALOT of money in it, doesn't know that it was made out of chicken wire and bondo before the body work was done! It's kind of funny knowing that the chicken wire was actually stronger than the sheet metal around it as the body was cracking and rusting, but the bondo was actually quite strong. But, what do I know about fords? I just work on them... ALOT

A couple of months ago, my friend bought a old 56' cadillac 4 door. As we are tearing the car apart (him in the front seat, me in back), he finds a knife, several rounds of unspent .38, and a pistol with rust so bad, you couldn't even slide it open. While I found 2 condom rings (guess the condom disolved), 2 more rounds of .38, a bag of weed, and.... (drum roll) $750!! We were so happy, since he only bought the car for a cool $500. Also, we turned the pistol, rounds, and the weed (couldn't smoke, or we would have) into the police. We got a $250 reward for turing that stuff in. Not a bad day.

I was bored one saturday morning recently and decided to hit a towing auction. I bought a pontiac parisenne lowrider for $120 because it had brand new wire wheels (I didn't need them but I figured that I could sell them). I got it home and found about $500 worth of tools, a ton of high end car audio, and a cool old chain steering wheel. I also found the owners name. I called him and he wanted his car back. I told him exactly what I had paid and what I was keeping and told him that I wanted $200 for it. When he came to get it, he thought that I said $300, so that is what he gave me.

Last weekend while cleaning out my '50 chevy p/u that was parked in '86 I found a complete brand new wiring harness in a sealed package and shop manual. The cab was stuffed with the entire drivetrain, 4 bags of trash and of course mountains of rats nests. I wore a respirator and it took about 2 hours if that tells you anything. My guess is that the harness and book were purchased sometime before '86 when the truck was dismantled / parked and left in there with all of the other crap and good intentions. Well, that's about $400 back in my pocket on the rebuild so I'm all :D

When I just started wrenching, I worked at a Mercedes dealer where I often found ''product'' and handguns in all kind of places while servicing the cars. At one point I found a shiny new shotgun in the trunk, while the owner walked up to me from behind. I just shoved it asside to put some air in the spare tire... Dude gave me ''the look'' and I just nodded my head . Never said a word.

Guns are a sure trip to jail here in Holland...

Found a lot of dope, knives and other goodies in secondhand cars I bought too. But hey, that's Holland :D.

A salvaged title means that at one time, it was in an accident. The insurance company deemed that repairs would cost 75% or more of the actual car's value. So they pay the owner, take the car, and send it off to the junkyard (or give the owner the option to buy it back from them for a small fee, like $500).

    Thanks

Years ago, i had purchased a Camaro for $1500.00, the guy who sold it to me had been dealing in cars, auctions, etc.

he was moving to vegas so i made a quick deal.

about 5 months after i bought the car,i decided to redo the stereo and speakers.behind both rear seat cushions was $2500.00 in 20 dollard bills in a bank envelope!

i would loved to have that on film,i could see one envelope, but TWO!

    so i made a $#%00.00 profit and i still had the car<LOL

  21. From the late 60's till 1989 I worked in my dad's used car lot.
We dealt mostly in late model stuff, former lease and rental cars and a lot of muscle cars.
Cars that came from a wide cross section.
In the trunk of a '79 Fairmont rental type car we discovered 2 cases of porn mags some low life distributor left behind. Ugly part about them was one case was all porn male guys and the other case held kiddie porn stuff.
We turned the evidence over to the cops.
Found $38. bucks in small change plus 2 tubes of K-Y lubricant jelly shoved down the defroster vent of a '71 Lemans station wagon a lady dropped off on day with the complaint a greasy film in the interior every time she turned on the heater or a/c.
Found someones urn with the ashes in the trunk of a fairly new Corolla.
Found lots of weed and underwear in the muscle cars that got traded in.
A Rabbi turned in his '66 Feetwood.
On the floor of his Caddy were all the screws that held in the speedometer and plastic lense in place.
After he drove away in his new 1 year old Electra Limited I found lube stickers under the hood of his trade in Fleetwood showing over 92,000 miles.
I think the Fleetwood showed only 27,000 miles. Shrewd guy!
He did the same thing to me many years later when he turned in his "low mileage" Cressida to me. All the instrument cluster screws were missing again. I allowed very cheap money for the car this time.
A really outstanding chick turned in her late model Jeep Wrangler.
Under the drivers seat was a home made harness holding 2 (TWO!) vibrators for doubling her pleasure on long lonely turnpikes.
On a Ford Crown Vic. we found a bunch of dead fish with all their heads cut off laying across the top of the engine. (Bait??)
We also captured a few unmarked cruisers.
Weird cars. A '78 Olds 88 Royale 4 door. White, red vinyl roof, red interior. P. windows and locks, NO AIR and a big 403 engine.
Had a couple of full size late 60's Fords all pimped out with vinyl tops, all the moulding groups and huge by large engines.
Those cars were loaded...............with donut crumbs.

Buddy bought an old drivers ed car for the hand controls and found small stick-on convex mirror stuck under the drivers column so that the instructor could look up skirts.
The controls were for something he chopped, sectioned, and channeled. One of those bad ideas that went for scrap.
    Yes we called the cops.

I found coal in the stake bed holes in my 1927 Ford RPU bed. I put the coal in a small jar in my shop.

Think about it, some dude shoveling coal into the bed of a RPU back in the late 1920's / early 30's.

Man if only these vehicles could tell their stories,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I found a broken 1/2" breaker bar SK brand in the trunk of a 68 Thunderbird 4 door. Hand tools in other cars plus always a few coins.

At the time I had a barrel stove in the garage and used it as a poker until someone said take it to a store that sells SK tools it has a life time warranty. I did and years later I'm still using the Thorsen since they didn't have an SK in stock. The Thorsen is a little longer so it worked out pretty good.

My old man has bought and sold cars for years, and he's found plenty in OT cars from guns to drugs etc. Pretty nuty what some people forget to take out.

As far as shit we've found in old cars...
61 new yorker: Trunk FULL of old b/w porno mags...so full the ass end was sagging.
64 Polara conv: crack baggies fell outta the fender (came outta Newark... go figure)
49 merc: one of those really old school black and gold leaf singer sewing machines and a vintage "sleep area here" road sign
