700R4 to a 350 block. I tried to install converter and heard the two clicks. Going by memory i forgot it was three clicks not two. Got everthing in and snugged up the bolts to the bell housing and hand tight using a wrench. Left it over night. The next day I jumped under to find the converter too tight to spin at all. The three lugs of the converter were offset with the flex plate so it left some extra room. I loosened the bell housing bolts, Separated the trans, got the converter to do the last click and drop into the pump, bolted the bell housing up, bolted the converter to the flex plate. Do you think I messed up the pump? I havent started it but did rotate the converter to attach flex plate bolts. How can I check the pump? Should I just try it out? Thanks in advance.
I think the pump engages by about 3/8" and being that you were offset from the pads, it may have bought you 3/16" or so. The flex plate may have sprung enough to not really be an issue. Probably OK.
If I thought I was the only one I would have asked everyone....HAHAHA I figured someone would tell me whether they admit they did it or not.
I know guys who drive like that, but within a few hundred miles the pumps go out.... I say your fine.... Remember, while bolting the tranny together, keep checking the converter for bind.....
