I have the trans cross member out for alittle fix-up and have access to the governor. I would like to take the best guess at changing the springs or wieghts and driving it this weekend. Is this asking to much? Here is my problem. The trans shifts gears too earily. It seems to shift at 1500 rpm. for each gear. It feels like the engine is strained at that low of rpm. The gear change spacing is ok. I would like to raise the shift rpm to 1900-2100rpm. I have the B&M governor kit. I have searched the web and found instructions saying the springs control the spacing(close/far apart) and the wieght control the shifts(earily/late). With this in mind what would be my chance of getting it right the first time by just changing the wieghts (lighter)? I would go real conservitive and find the next lightest wieghts. Any one do this? Words of advice?
Start off by replacing the heavier gov spring w/ a lighter one. Or, you can call me & tell me the color of the springs & I can dial you in. DAVE
