Hot Rods 700r4 into 50 Cad

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Wayne the Limey, May 28, 2021.

  1. Has anybody on here attached a 700r4 trans to the existing 50 Cadillac steering column gear linkage? If so, how did it turn out & what did you do to get it all connected.

    Regards,

    Wayne.

Not on a 700R or a Cadillac, but when I installed added a different transmission with more selections needed I added approximately 1” to the shift column arm for the needed travel of the trans arm just missing an exhaust manifold.
I would also check the movement of the old hydramatic arm in inches to the new 700R in inches. Making it shorter will also give you more spots with the stock arm.
You can also make a new selector out of lexan and have a trophy shop etch in the new lettered and numbers.
All of this takes time and tinkering.
