I am building a 1941 Ford 2dr sedan with 454 engine and 700r4 trans. I rebuilt the trans myself with a monster in a box kit. The car moves in reverse, put into OD and nothing happens. Downshift to 3rd, 2nd, low the car moves forward. I have not attempted to drive the car yet, other than in and out of garage. Any ideas what the issue is with transmission? The transmission is a 1985 model

Probably not it, but did you try disconnecting the linkage and just turning it at the ******? I had one that I had to mess with because the dentents in the ****** and steering column lock were out of sink just enough to to cuz a inconsistency from neutral to drive

Oh, the way I figured it was adjusting the linkage making sure I could freely slide the linkage in and out of the ****** arm in each position. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. The shifter is a floor shift out of a Camaro, with the same type transmission and it works as it should through the shift range. This is the first time for me to attempt a automatic transmission rebuild, guess I will be tearing it back apart to check sprags. Thanks again
