Because a 700 was a fuel injection car or truck******* you will need a special correction adapter to your carb. I don't know which one's but somebody will jump in here to help you out. The cable should be fully extended at full throttle or better yet set up with pressure gages. Good luck Ralphie

The cable on a 700R4 is more than a kick-down cable. It is a TV (throttle valve) cable and it controls internal pressure in the trans and both the geometry of travel and adjustment are critical or you can trash the trans. Should be a special arm available for the Edelbrock to accomplish that.
And looks like somebody else typed the answer quicker than me; but remember there is more to it than full stroke at WOT.

By the way Jay, that's not a" kickdown" all shifting is done with pressure.

Go by the info on Bowtie overdrive. If you follow their instructions you willhave the TV pressure right. This is a very critical adjustment on the 700R4 transmission

As a teen, I fried a 700r in my 83 gmc step side when I swapped a big block in place of a 250 6cyl , on first babied test drive all because TV cable wasn't fully opening ! After that I know how, a CA1970 pioneer 700r4 adjustable cable can often be of help. Be careful! Flux
