Now that I've converted from TPI to a carb I have to figure out the easiest kit to use to control the lockup on my 700r4 ******. For those who may have done this swap already, how did you wire yours and what was the cost?
I just got a cheapo kit off of ebay... it came with a new pressure switch, and a new case connector hardshell that has one **** connector pin instead of the stock four pin plug. It was like $15 bucks shipped. You cut the two wires from the solenoid and run 12v ign to the + side through the trans connector, and the - wire to the pressure switch on the valve body. This will cause it to lock up in 4th gear. From what I understand, you dont need a new pressure switch. You can just re-wire the solenoid the way I explained above. I liked the single pin connector, so I just ordered that kit. - Jon
Had conversation with ****** guy this weekend who said just don't connect it at all. Won't make much difference, and it won't "hunt" for lockup speed. Any one else heard this?
Horse****. It will hunt for lockup and burn up the converter. Not saying you can't drive it without a lockup switch, but don't expect it to last long.
I bet your the first one ever to ask that question. Now where did Ryan put that search ****on? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=458785 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=461393&highlight=700r4 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=424985&highlight=700r4 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=364485&highlight=700r4
