I've jumped off the deep end and decided to rebuild my 1985 700R4 with the ***istance of a DVD from Monster transmission. The trans orriginally had a 7 vane pump. Monster transmission used a 10 vane pump in the DVD. I find both 10 vane and 13 vane pumps on ebay. Which pump is the better choice for a streetrod? It won't be seeing any track or strip time as long as I own it. My understanding is that the 13 vane smoothes out any pressure surges/spikes. What are you guys running? Is one any better than the other or are they pretty equal?

I have never installed an upgraded pump in any of the 700R4's that I have rebuilt. What was in there went back in.

That said, later units had a 10-vane pump.
