I graduated highschool in 79 and still got some stuff laying around and I do got them super special dukes of hazard wheels on my truck:eek: so I was thinking rather than look for some decent priced aluminum slots (or until I find some) I would press on with some 70's stuff (not the paint though) does anyone have any old memories of what things used to look like back then? its a 49 f1 with a sbc, I still got my old velocity stack air cleaner and some tin chrome valve covers :D
any ideas or pictures of stuff from that era would be appreciated
I'll fire up some beegees and try to relive the life and times!:)

  2. I remember those Cal Custom wooden door lock knobs and handles with wood and steel with lightening holes. Or the old CanTire "Make Waves" junk! Stu

  3. Uh the '70s are a blurr to me. I have a few memories but I keep trying to forget them.

Basically your rear tires are supposed to be wider than your fronts if they stick out that's even better, fender flairs are cool and always wear a liesure suit and really tall shoes.

  4. Hey Porknbeaner,

You left out the puffy 'stoner' ski jackets. And feathered hair... dude!

I do recall the tires but I I never did follow the clothes fashion, its always been flannel shirts, jeans and running shoes for me although I do recall owning a courdaroy jean jacket:D
I'm still pretty proud of my redneck hillbilly heritage :)

Rainbow prism tape was popular then. Nasty fuzzy seat covers. The wood door locks with the big ol knobby ends came in real helpful if you locked your keys in your car.

  7. Kodiak work boots left unlaced and the Kenora dinner jacket ( red plaid). Stu

    Man,
I cant imagine why anyone would want to make a car look 70's.
Even the stock vehicles looked like shit without hanging all the fake chrome shit on it. As far as hot rods? They were just beginning to fuck up thousands of front end good stock cars by chopping the frame and attaching some stupid gm or ford clip on.
I remember attaching those chrome door edge guards that were metal and scratched more paint during their installation than protect from doors hitting shit.
70-80 and early 90's are the dark ages of hotrodding. YUK.

  9. Keep on Truckin mudflaps and double trucker CB antennas. Stu

  10. Actually you're right but what the hell I'm just trying to be helpful.

I actually know where there is a real factory Starsky and Hutch car in Arkansas. Gotta love that stripe.

Saw a 7? sumthin Javelin Cardin edition recently. The interior was worn but still hideous stripes of multihued purple. I had the super trick in the seventies, Champ 500 wheels on my first car, a 71 Mustang Mach 1.

Holy Smokes I never thought about all that! I was thinking them big foot dimmer switchs and the velocity stack kind of equipment not all the nightmarish stuff you guys are bringing up:eek:
you've all been quite successful in making me see the error of my ways, I think the platform shoes and the starsky comment did me in:eek:

I don't got the loot to trim it out in the fake chrome so that vision wouldn't have been anything more than a wet dream:D

  16. One word-VANS. Playboy Bunnie smoked plexiglass porthole windows, crazy interiors, huge flairs, front spoilers, and Viking murals. I don't give a fuck how much everybody hates and wants to forget these things, I WANT ONE!

  17. Not me I just want the "stoner" chick that went with it.

Like a picture she was layin' there moon light dancin off her hair... in my Chevy van and that's alright with me.

Super Stock rear steel wheels half black half white, daisy decal on rear end. Thrush blue glasspacks. Fadded candy paint jobs with metalflake and lace, radiused rear wheel wells, hood tacs. Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll... but I digress.

Get a huge Goody comb and carry it in your back pocket while your driving a jacked up Torino with cragars and white letter Kelly tires and chrome ladder bars while you are wearing a jean jacket and drinking a returnable bottle of Mountain Dew while listening to Foghat or Nazareth.

  22. With a Star Wars or Conan the Barbarian mural air-brushed across the trunk lid...

'least that's what I remember about 1980; my senior year in HS.

Hey at least the music was better than todays hip hop rap crap

the girls wore pretty tight clothes in them days as well, you'd hear tales of girls having to lay down to get into their pants and using pliers to pull up the zipper

is it just me or did girls in the 70's/80's have naturally bigger boobs than they do today?

I don't recall to any hotrods in high school mostly 4 door beaters and musclecars

Well the Cragar SST's with the gold centerss are kinda crusty now,
but my huggy bear "pimp fur" interior has held up amazingly well.
Think I still have some"flower pots" and foot long shackles laying
    around too.

It was before my time but I think the best thing to come out of the 70s were LOWRIDERS.

Forget all that "60's style" stuff you guys are all raveing about. For low lows it was all about the 70's

My dad was all into vans in the 70's. Appearantly he wanted a full tilt custom one....but my ma wasn't having none of that. Wonder why? :D

    ...They eventually got divorced.
