I have a 71 Nova with a 6 cylinder and on the carbuator it has a spark control solenoid where do the 2 vac*** lines go to? I cant find anywhere that tells you and the car wont shut off without dieseling, is there anyway to do without this? Maybe by retiming the car to a differnt spec? or changing the carbuator to a differnt type? any help would bw appreciated.
I owned a 68 and a 72 nova, both had inlines, with single barrel carbs. I remember one of the lines I had jammed a screw into the line to plug it off, and the other must of went to the vacuum advance on the distributor. the back of the spark solenoid near the two spade connectrors, that line goes to the carb on the far right side of the front. then the hose on the other side of the solinoid goes to the thermal vacuum switch, has a bunch of hoses plugged into it, its screwed into the front of the manifold. At least thats how i remember it. however, i was eliminating as much stuff like wires and hoses that i could from that engine compartment.
my 67 has no spark control, but the lines to to the vacuum modulator, and the vacuum advance on the distributor. i ran the lines disconnected from the distributor on accident for god knows how long though.
