Seriously. Shouldn't he be writing us all letters with his quill pen and India ink on parchment instead of sitting on one of them newfangled "computers" and posting in a 21st century internet forum? If you're going correct, go all the way.

Well, since you are so touchy about it, just stand up and spend the money. "Correct" costs $$$

Yeah,,the Walkers are pricy,,,but they make a damn good product,,

I have been building 30's and 40's hot rods for about 35 years now and I have used junkyard radiators and re-cored originals,,,,I've used U.S. raiditors and Griffin aluminum jobs too,,,,

I have had the best luck with Walker,,,I have one in my roadster,,my more-door,and one still in the box for my 32 pick-up,,,

I even won a NSRA prize package of a Walker for my 54 ford wagon,,,If your counting ,,thats 4,,and the one in the sedan is more than 10 years old and it is flathead powered!

And as far as cost,,,yeah,I'm afraid everything cost money and the radiators are no exception,,,find what will work for you and use it,,,,, be it a salvage yard or a brand new unit. HRP

Aluminum? I paid $600.oo for my aluminum custom built radiator 15 years ago, (in Las Vegas). I run air and have never had a problem, my theory was I could spend it then or spend it later, glad I went the way I did.

I am having the same dilemma right now. I found a guy on ebay and I wrote to him about a month ago, he said he could get these configured for a flathead. I wrote him yesterday again because Imready to buy it but Im still waiting to hear back...seems like he has real good feedback.

Shane & Southern Rods must be selling a lot of radiators. I called the other day & ordered mine. I asked for Shane but he wasn't around. Saleman gave me the same price that Shane quoted & knew it off the top of his head.

You will save quite a bit of money buying from a distributor instead of directly from Walker, even though Walker will custom build it and ship it directly to you.

I went with Yearwood last year, but I bet there are alliance vendors that could help you out.

I use a local guy that built a 3 p*** cross flow for about $300 for my Studebaker.

They also had stacks of Walker radiators for $300-$400 that were used but looked like they would fit a 32 shell. They get them from all the tug's and transport equipment at the Airport. I think Walker makes most of their stuff for commercial vehicles, not hot rods.

LOL, you just made me remember a story from when I was over in the sand with my Uncle Sam. The power went out on our base one night and the back up genny's came on. We scrambled and went on patrol to find out what had happened to the main power cable. We eventually found, just outside the base perimeter the mostly chared remains of some idiot (nationality unknown). He'd dug down to where the cable was buried. The hack saw and what was left of his right hand "welded" into the cable. Darwinism at its' best. :)

I put a walker in a 29 model a 20 some years ago and man was it pricey. Cost of **** aint gone down so im ***uming its prolly right in line with todays prices. I have a griffin in my coupe and i had to replace it a year or so ago cause it started leaking. It was still under warranty. Ive got some different 32 aluminum radiator in my roadster and we will see how it holds up. Griffins are epoxied together and ive heard thats a bad thing?

  17. I have had 3 radiators built for hotrods, each time using top and bottom tanks from "factory" cars, with new "custom length" cores. They all worked fine, and they all cost me about $500 at local radiator shops.---However, none of them looked as nice as a new aftermarket radiator would have.

I looked at the speedway online catalog and it looks like you can save money if you order a radiator without the A/C condenser. There are two types: the Z series and the Cobra series. The Z series is for a high output small block and/or big block and the Cobra series is for your no frills small block. I want the Z series in my A with sbc and I want the 4 core because of the heat here in South Texas. It was in the high eighties this last week. Anyway, the four core Z series with a/c condenser built-in is $789.95 and without the a/c condenser it was $654.95. That's a difference of $130 bucks. If you order the 3 core Cobra series w/o the a/c condenser it's only $544.95. That's another $110 bucks. Not bad. Now I'm getting impatient...thinking about forgetting the a/c for now. The shipping is very reasonable so...this deal is sounding better all the time and my pocket is on fire...burning a hole in it. My only question to you HAMBers is: is the 4 core that much better than the 3-core? One more note: The price in the 2006 catalog shows the Cobra w/o a/c condenser at $479. If the $544.95 figure is the 2007 price, that's a price increase of $65.95 from '06 to '07. That's a lot!

I got my 3 inch "Choped" radiator by UPS today from the guy that sells them on eBay. Its aluminum and he charged my like $50 extra to configure it to a flathead. It seems to fit pretty well inside the '32 shell and he was a real nice guy to deal with. I think the ebay seller name is "disrad". I will probably just paint it black . It was $390 including the shipping. Although I really like the way the walkers look, I figure the $$ difference between this and the walker will be my wiring kit, and some other stuff I need to get it up and running.

    Thats ********

Walker needs to get a grip, people arent going to pay that kind of money
especially when you can buy a chopped 32 radiator from PRC for $410.00.

Look em up,and they are aluminum, polishing is extra.

Hell, if you wanted it black, paint it yourself.
I'm sure you could paint it better ,and with better paint than Walker

They only made a dozen or so of those Walker radiators in 45 & 46, that's probably why they're so expensive

If you are worried about everything being pre- '46. Be a true builder and find an old Ford rad, have it re-cored, cleaned out...then add outlets for a flathead. I've seen it done many times by true purists. There is no need to have that stupid filler neck sticking out if you are a true purist.
