  2. We will be there again, as usual it’s going to be a last minute decision on which flathead is going to be powering it. Hopefully the Dorton will be the power.

Well, when you think you're privileged, you might pay the price of finding out why the rules are what they were made for.

Anyone know how much it cost Boyd for that fiasco?

Ask the guy who was having a car built when Boyd came back and needed $$$$ advanced…what ever he paid was the cost.
We all watched it happen. He was told by more than one guy and officials not to take his motor home down the short course return road as it was soft…..apparently his ear plugs were in.

We just booked tickets to attend Saturday through Monday morning. Not enough vacation time to do a really long trip this year.

They spent a couple of days and maybe more working on it, Getting the courses laid out and dragged and cleaning up fire pits, trash and maybe some of the canopy frames that were underwater last year and didn't get picked up.
They also got a shot of the weather station where the camera sits aimed at the pylon. Salt looks pretty good, now I only need a pile of money dropped in my lap so I can go. Screenshot (1821).png Scta load of trash.jpg Salt flats weather station.jpg Scta draging course.jpg

IMG_5821.jpeg IMG_5822.jpeg Ready to load early as is normal for me. Text ran everything yesterday checking the transmission and brakes.
A different year for me as I’m not driving the tow vehicle or the race car when we get there. Son, Patrick, is using his truck to tow the trailer and his oldest son, Tyler, will be driving the car. I purchased a new fire suit for him and it’s nice the record is under 175.
Patrick racing at the Perris 1/2 mile dirt track on July 22 and I’ve told him no repairs if needed on that one. It will be trailer pack time. I still need one more room and hopefully I can stumble into one at the Rainbow where I do have one..

  15. Doing some maintenance and a tune up on my beater coupe. Been 34 years since it's first trip to the salt. Still going strong!

Going to service the Dodge and clean up the Vanguard Hotel . I've arranged for a trailer to bring the General. I'm not confident enough in the car or my back to make the drive , besides I need a place to sleep.

  17. Also rebuilding my front leaf springs. This is what salt exposure does.......
The car had almost zero front end travel.

To all heading out to the salt, be fast and be safe.
You will all be busy out there, but please take as many pics as you can for the rest of us.

A few of us from Omaha decided yesterday to go. Driving late models and camping at the bend in the road.
Looking forward to it -- see some of you there!

  28. Bummer, I called Chick and pulled the plug last night. I managed to crack a rib over the weekend and am feeling pretty beat up. Car camping at the bend is out of the question for me now
