located at 12145 N Devries Rd, Lodi, CA 95242 I-5 North, Eight Mile Rd East, Thorton Rd North about as easy as anything. Old school type operation, 1/8th mile, mostly dirt pits and spectator parking, some vendors, food, usually a big name old time drag racer there - even Big Daddy has been there in recent past. Car Show on asphalt, display of old drag history and planes, sometimes live music. I have seen billboards along freeways but, not heard any details for this year. beats watching all of the political stuff on TV. pics from last year.
Been there done that twice. First time I went was a blast - I made over 10 p***es down the track, had an awesome day out with the guys and saw lots of cool rides down the track. This was for the 2nd return to kingdon drags. I missed out on the 3rd R.t.K.D. due to a scheduling conflict and was totally bummed. Marked my calender for the 4th R.t.K.D. and couldn't wait to go. The second time I went was for the 4th return to kingdon drags, this time it totally ****ed. They had a group of ***hats on "stunt" bikes doing "tricks" on the track for over an hour, then shut down the track so the "officials" could have a lunch brake for another hour (Why they didn't have their lunch brake when the aforementioned ***hats "entertained" baffles me to this day). After they finished their brake the announced the winners of the car show and had them parade down the track one at a time which blew another hour! All in all, the blew a little over three hours of MY track time that year, I only got to make 3 p***es (Yes, I was there before the gates opened in line waiting) AND they increased the entrance fee that year. They also included "elimination" runs for those that "qualified" and ended the track day for everyone else early. Overall that experience totally ****ed, which has kept me away for the past two events. The track preparation both years was practically non existent and the timing system barely worked when it was working. Those who might go with real track cars might want to think twice - watching any sub 10 second car get totally crossed up on the one/two and two/three shift might be cool to watch but isn't much fun for the driver. That being said, the track is a ****load of fun for street cars and the place is cool as hell as it's literally a training air strip from WWII in the middle of a cornfield. I'm contemplating going this year as a spectator to help some buds out and see how it goes. I just hope they don't feature any lame *** ****head ****wads on scooters doing **** that myself or any one else cared for or wanted to see and that they can better coordinate the car show awards and break scheduling.
they are having street driven drags tonite (Friday) about 5 PM - using a starter with a flag, no staging lights.
Last time I trophied at Lodi was in 1962 When I towed our Willys with my 57 Pontiac. When we registered, they said "You Can run the Pontiac also" That's what won the trophy!!
I'm headed up there tonight with my two year old son in my hot rod. We're camping out in Lodi Friday and Saturday night and plan to be there on Saturday and Sunday. If they let me I'd love to run it down the track and get a time slip for it!
I went to the first one. No timing at end of track, no traction help, timing tree for starts only. It was fun, but have not been since. Basically a chance to run against your friends or strangers like a street race situation.
The first Lodi reunion (circa 1995-96) was the brainchild of the late Craig Norton of Stockton, just a car show with no racing. I attended that one and the second one.
The Swap Meet is SUNDAY. I usually go the Swap held at Cosumnes River College by Elk Grove off HWY 99 near Calvine Rd exit - West side of freeway-starts 5AM
