OK heres the deal. Got smokin deal on a crate 350 built with a 8 71 blower. Don"t no all the specs yet but i"m working on it. What could happin is I could swap my 283 with 3x2 rochesters (getin pretty tired). Iknow this is a huge transformation. I really like getin there fast. Maybe quarter mile fast. It would go in my 31 chev 5 window coupe, chopped 4 inches, boxed frame, 10 bolt posi. Any input from some fast gurus would be wellcome.

That would be a major transformation, maybe too much! Your ch***is might need more than just boxing, and hopefully the wood has been replaced with steel, since a blower will make for a lot more "shock load" on the entire car, including that 10- bolt rear end. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, but just want you to be prepared for the fact that,
    A. You are going to need a pretty stout, engine to utilize that 8-71.
    B. Adding more horsepower always finds the "weak link", which leads to many upgrades being necessary.
    C. There is no cure for the addiction of more horsepower, as you will be completely impressed with the result, especially in that great looking early Chevrolet.:D
    D. That you will have to keep us all informed of the progress, of the transformation, complete with pictures, either on the main board or at least on the "social group, Termites and Bowties", which will welcome you wholeheartedly, as we can't get enough early Chevys. Maybe you need my ch***is?

Good luck with that all I have done is throw money at my 871 BBC. You will go fast until you find the weak link. Blew my tork converter leaned the motor out blew head gaskets **** happens when you want to go fast. My 2 cents

This not an absolute, I realize there is shock issues but it is a strong frame and the wood has been replaced with steel, at least the bottom of the cab section the upper (door, windows,) are still good oak. The floor is all steel reinforced with 1 inch square tube. I am prepared for some twisting (hope not) but over all I think I might make it work. I,m a pretty good mig welder so i can adapt. Sure wood be a impessive hunk of iron behind the rad, never mind the gidiupango.

Be sure to have your cooling system in tip top shape. They tend to run hot. Everyone needs to do the blower thing at least once.

If you get any traction, you'll break driveline parts....

also you need a good fuel system so you don't lean it out, good cooling system, etc.

Yep! Everything has go through the rearend to get the power to the ground. Not to mention traction upgrades. I had blown 392 years ago and it was just too damn much noise. It's a whole different going blown.

Put it in there, it's just a blower. You'll figure it out. It's an air pump. Your gonna love it. :D Lippy

Thats the most encourging blower advice ever, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Guess everyone was a newb at it sometime :)... Currently hacking up/making the intake manifold for a 4-71 flatty. Course that ain't no 8-71 on a Chev.
