The Maverick is the narrowest Ford rear axle at 56.5 ".

    The 65 Falcon is 58 ".

There is a good chart here.

The Mavericks with a 302 have the good 5 lug axles. Looks like I may now have a spare for another project down the road :)

    Confirmed, another Maverick rear :)

So, the only thing I'll have to do is rebuild the brakes.

Gotta love it. Then all the components in my rear will get transferred to the housing and I have another complete rear which of course would need a rebuild. A spare.

Did you find brake parts easily for yours? I have to get everything.

Have not tried yet, I am hoping that I can get a complete hardware kit to replace all the bits and pieces, springs etc. along with the shoes, wheel cylinders and all.

    New drums too.

You can check for warpage by turning the housing with everything ***embled, including tires. Block the tires and use a dial indicator on the side top of the tires. If you get movement, the rear is warped. Put heat opposite from where it was welded and try again. Works great. If you can roll the housing and the tires stay still, the rear is straight.
