can anyone tell me if the larger side of an 8" ford posi differential carrier is the same as an open carrier. i know the other side is different it has recessed bolt holes where the two halves bolt together. what i am really asking is can i put a posi rear together by changing the side where the bolts go to a posi and getting a clutch kit for it?
Wouldn`t work anyway. The carrier halves are machined as a matched set. Swapping to another half piece is like mixing up rod caps, a big no-no!
