I'm working with a '82 GM tilt column with delay wipers and cruise control and I need some help with an ID on some of the wires.

    1) On the wide connector, wires G through P are the standard GM stuff. There are three additional wires: D-gray, E-brown, and F-light green. What are they used for?

I ask because wire D has an unidentified wire wire spliced to it that was used for something behind the dash and I probably need to hook it back up. It would help knowing what function it performed inside the column, and I'm just curious about the other two wires since I can't seem to locate any of them on the schematic.

    2) There is a two-wire cable with a flat two-prong connector. This is the ignition key buzzer, I suspect. Yes? I think could use this for a headlight-on reminder, or does anybody have experience with a simple circuit like this? http://tinyurl.com/42qzga

    3) The other connector is for the wiper and cruise control, A-brown, B-pink, C-purple, D-black, E-gray, F-blue, G-brown.

I believe that B-pink is for the washer motor, and F-blue/G-brown are the cruise control. A-brown, C-purple, and E-gray are for the wiper switch with D- black being the ground.

I'm aware that the GM wiper switches control the motor through ground and the Autoloc wiper is controlled through B+. I'd like to figure out a way using relay to use the column-mounted GM switch for the AutoLoc wiper. along the lines of this discussion: http://tinyurl.com/3mmtq6. That thread contains a link to a schematic. I'm not certain I have the same wiper switch, but I think I could use the different switch. Advice?

    This is from my '88:
E - tan from drivers door switch" for key buzzer ground with door open
F -Light green from "key in ign switch" warning buzzer
G - black to horn switch
H- Light blue to left front turn signal and left turn dash indicator
J - Dark Blue to right front turn signal and right turn dash indicator
K - Brown from hazard flasher
L - Purple from turn flasher
M - Yellow to left rear turn signal/brake light bulb
N - Dark Green to right rear turn signal/brake light bulb
P - White from brake light switch

I can't find a listing for the "D" gray wire. Gray is usually for a dash light. Is there a light in the column to find the ign key hole in the dark?

All the wires on this connector are from the wiper/washer switch.

Are you sure this is only a two-wire cable? The cruise control connector is usually a tiny flat circuit board with the wires soldered to it.

Since D and E are the key buzzer and all the wires on the wiper plug are for the wiper, I would agree.

Thanks. You've cleared a few things up and now I need to find my continuity meter and diagram the wiper switch.

OK, I've looked at the schematic for teh delay wiper and can see why it would be impossible to use without the wiper control box.

Would it be easy to sway the column wiper switch fro a non-delay version?

I don't think the non-delay switch is that much simpler.
The wiper/washer pins are noted as follows. The 9x numbers are the GM circuit numbers for the wires.
    A: No connection shown
94 B: Washer switch to washer
    92 C: Wiper Hi
    93 D: Wiper motor feed
    91 E: Wiper Low
    98 F: Dynamic feed - B+
    G: No connection shown

This is from an S-10 Chiltons book showing 82-85 diagram.

The schematic looks simpler to adapt to a few relays.

Yes, it bolts right in. You can also use a relay to do a "pulse", a single sweep of the wipers using the non delay wiper switch, using the washer function, by interupting the park circuit on the wiper motor.
