Got a chance to get a 87 chevy 5 speed transmission out of a Camero with 80,000 miles. Are these tranys any good even if they need some work? He wants $125. Seems fair.
From a V8 or a V6 / four cylinder Camaro?? How much 'needs a little work' does it need?? If it is a V8 version, the gears and case are good, it just needs bearings and seals, $125 is pretty good. If it is a V6 / four cylinder T5, and it needs bearings and seals, $125 is borderline high. If either the case or the gears are bad, $125 is too much. That my opinion, your opinion may vary. Kids don't try this at home. Piper106

Pretty sure all the camaro versions require using the hydraulic camaro bellhousing because the trans is tilted like 15 degrees. But Lakewood does make manual clutch scattershields with the rotated pattern. If you're gonna put more than 250hp in front of it, seriously consider a world-class T5 from a later year car. Good luck
All that's needed is to make an adapter to take up the angle at the trans mount and you can use any chevy bellhousing. I've got 2 myself that qre running and driving now. One uses the stock style 65 chev truck bellhousing. Thother I'm using an aluminum stock style. jerry
