I see two different fuel pumps listed for 8BAs in all the catalogs. One for '49-'50 and another for '51 - '53. There are also single and double action for both. What is the difference and will one work on the other? Also, what's the difference between single and double action? I have an 8BA going in a current project but don't know what year it is...

The double action pumps are used for those that require a vacuum wiper hookup.
    Either pump will work.,
I have this type on my 8BA.

The types interchange. Most '52-3 got double, really two pumps stacked in one casting. One pumped gas, the other was a vac pump to make wipers work better... expensive and has a reputation for wearing out cams. Any '49-53 single will be fine...I believe actual dif will be with the port threadings. Some take early Ford Fordnut/compression fitting, others I think have pipe threads and take an adaptor for other threads. Both fit engine the same, just a matter of plumbing preference. I would guess the earlier has Foirdnuts.
