239, now 252, Isky Max1, Offy 425 heads and intake 390 Holley, Mallory Electronic, Red's Headers. 12 volt one wire. Spal electric fan ( no engine fan).Speedway 160 stats, 165 fan sensor dr. side water pump. Al radiator.
Fan comes on when temp gauge reads 150 both banks. Fan will not turn off until I cut power at the battery. This engine in a fresh rebuild with about an hour on it. Truck not finished so I can't road test yet. Do I need to change thermostats or get a new sensor for the fan?

    Thanks

Are you sure the temp gage is good? Fan or radiator may not be large enough to "cycle"...If the temp holds at where the fan comes on is half the battle..

Does it overheat? The fan will never turn off with a 150 switch and 160 stats. you should run at 180 anyways.

are you running thermastats in the engine. if not you may be over circulating the coolant .

    Thanks for your reply.

Gauge is a new electric Stewart Warner with a toggle to switch between banks.I verified it with a mechanical screwed into the heater opening in the back of the head at startup when I work hardened the cam. Radiator is new aluminum fan is 16" mounted high on the rad. It is a puller.

if your fan sensor is supposed to be 165 and the fan comes on at 150 then either the fan sensor or the gauge is wrong.
