    Guys,

I have searched through many posts for the answer to my question but I still cannot find the answer.

I need the correct flywheel/ clutch/ pressure plate combo to go from my 276ci 8ba to the 26 spline camaro T-5.

The stock flywheel and pressure plate for p***enger car 49-53 is 9 1/2" combo however they only make the 26 spline clutch in 9" or 10" options.

So what are my flywheel options as I don't have one yet.

Then what pressure plate and clutch combo should I run

    Thanks,
    Tex

Tex there's more than one flywheel you can use on your 8 BA the Mercury flywheel has what's know as the Borg and Beck bolt pattern the clutch disk is 10 inch diameter. Ford also made 10 and 11 inch flywheels for the 1948 to 1953 8 BA. The flywheels are not hard to find.
When I need a disk or pressure plate for a flathead build I call the Hays tech line. Hays has pressure plates that bolt directly to the Ford or Mercury flywheel all you need to tell the tech people is the diameter of the flywheels bolt pattern and the thread mounting diameter. They also have the correct matching clutch disk. The new Hays clutch disks have a spring plate design that eliminates the typical flathead clutch chatter another plus to changing to the modern style plate and disk.

Just punch in T-5 articles on the HAMB, there's a bunch of useful material. Most of it involves 235s and T-5s but the sources for parts is extensive.

I used a 10" clutch disk and pressure plate setup for an early 80's Camaro or
Firebird and redrilled my flywheel to match. This setup gives you a diaphragm
clutch, which I think works much smoother than the Borg and Beck type. I also
used the bellhousing adapter type which has the lever arm for the release bearing
rather than the older style shaft and fork setup. This let me use the Camaro
    throwout bearing as is.
These pieces are all store bought and don't require any custom parts.

Thanks guys, I think using an early '80s 10" Camaro clutch and diagram would be the best set up and have my 8ba flywheel lightened and re drilled.

Does anyone know how much can be removed and where on an 8ba p***enger car flywheel?

    Tex,

Send a PM to krylon32 here on the HAMB. He is the owner of Cornhusker Rod and Custom and has done a ton of flathead to T-5 conversions. I am using one of his adapters on my '47 Tudor and he offers a clutch disc that will work.
