After some surgery, etc. I'm able to work on the 49 flathead in the Model A again. While installing an alternator (to power the HEI distributor), I noticed coolant leaking out of the impeller shaft on the passenger side water pump. So, I suspect it's time to replace it/them, unless someone has a better idea.

I checked Bob Drake's website, they're currently out of water pumps.

    Speedway has theirs in stock.

Any preferences or other sources for water pumps?

    Thanks in advance.

You might want to consider having the originals rebuilt by "Skip" Haney in Florida.

A Skip Haney rebuilt water pump is better than Speedway or Bob Drake, IMO

Here is the link to the Skip Haney website. George (Skip) Haney Coils and Pumps That has me thinking about pulling mine off and sending them off to be rebuilt rather than waiting.

I bought mine from Mike at H&H. They are working good and cool well. You aren't running a pressurized cap on the radiator right? maybe 4 lbs max. A 15 pound cap will not treat those pumps with due respect.

I have used multiple Dennis Carpenter flathead pumps on both 8ba and 59a. Always great with no brand name cast on them like Drake. My AV8 avatar has them too. NO leaks.

Yeah I replaced the pair on my ‘51 woody with the Dennis Carpenter pumps and they look great and perform just as well.
