I need help identifying this bell housing I pulled off an 8RT Flathead. I was told it could be a 1 year only bell housing- for the last year, 1953…

Also, is the starter plate compatible with my standard 8RT bell housing? Everything seems to line up. It would be great because I need one.

Yes, '53 only truck bell housing for the T98 4 speed. Kind of a rare piece if you need one...

Needs to be like the one on the right. My guess is that it will work.

I could be wrong but think that only the part of the bellhousing that replaces the earlier hogshead and uses the push style clutch fork rather than the early style is the only difference and the front bell and plate are the same.

Input shaft length(depth) is different because it uses a different trans than the earlier flatheads. Can't say for sure on the starter plate, but it looks in the pic like it might work. '53 was an odd year for Ford trucks. Some old, some new.

Very cool, thanks for the reply, it’ll be for sale soon for someone that cares to go that route.
It is. Awesome, good to know, thanks!
