Got a little clearance issue going on with this narrowed 9" (big bearing housing). Backing plates are 71 F-100 and they are deeply offset inward (for wide shoes, I would assume). Is there a passenger car application that uses narrower shoes and shallower backing plates? I don't need much; 1/4" will do. This a a light car, I don't need the wide shoes.
I've got a 70's full size car rear out in the the pile with backing plates that I can measure but think that car had pretty wide shoes. I have the drums in the shed somewhere but can't get to them to measure. Those F=100 rears probably have small bearing housings. Give me a bit and I can go measure the car backing plate with a straight edge across the back of the backing plate to give you some idea. Still the big problem with Ford from 60 or so and up is you can walk out in a wrecking yard with a row of same year and same model cars and find three different rear shoe widths.
I have a full set of those brakes, including the drums. Alas, I cannot get to them. I won't be walking for at least 45-more days.
