9" ford ?

  1. will any modifications to the housing be required to run a 6:33 gear? It's a nodular third member big pumkin housing if that helps. Thanks

    Sometimes with a gear that large, you have to grind away a small section of the housing for the ring gear to clear the housing where the gasket goes.

    Try and slip the gasket uo first to the carrier,:D

    Is this for a dirt track car ? I know guys run the upper 5.89 and 6.33 gear sets for their dirt track cars where I live in Pa. Just curious .
    Yes you will have to open the housing some to get the bigger rings to fit but it's just a small area . Just remove a little at a time so you don't remove too much . The less you remove the better off you will be .

    What are you up to with this? I ask because I have a 6.50:1 in my rear axle, but I am probably going to drop it to a 6.00:1. I have my reasons. I did not have to grind.

    I never had to grind any of mine, ran as deep as 6.50 in three different housings. Installed the 6.67 in one housing never ran it though, but I didn't need to grind it to install.
