Hi all. I need to build a narrow full floater disc brake Ford 9 inch housing for my FED, Anybody have links to "how to" or tech articles to do this on the cheap? I've narrowed several 9's and am familiar with the process, what I need most is parts selection, sources and set up details. Thanks, Paul.
The cheapest way in my opinion would be to buy a complete used floater 9" from a circle track car and narrow that. You will be money ahead as it will have the snouts, hubs,bearings etc. You will need axles, but those can be built by any axle manufacturer.
All the normal high HP stuff should apply. The only thing that's really different are the axles, bearings, and the flange stuff at the ends of the housing. Definitely look toword the circle track stuff.
Careful on the c-trak stuff. Some of this **** is pretty rough. And when these do-it-yourselfers weld brackets all over the rearend the tubes bend from the heat and warp pretty bad. Just look it over close before buying>>>>.
