I run the original 97s , not the new ones, The 94 and 97 are both good carbs, but I like the 97s . they fit all manifolds, some of the manifolds the 94s will not fit. the bowl screws on end run into each other and the 97s needle and seat are in fuel inlet, easy road side repair if they stick 94s are in carb will have to take off top to get to it. When most of the flathead manifolds were made they were made for 97s CFM are both the same pretty much Its one or the other, what ever you like Well thats just my 2 cents Been running mine since 1990 dailey driver

I have asked quite a few people the same question. Ost people tell me its just a personal preference. The 97s are what most ran back then so naturally its what a lot of us want to run now. I will run 94s on my roadster and spend the money elsewhere for now. I can always swap them out later.

97s definitely look cool with the acc rod on the side.
94s are nice cause you only need a screwdriver to fix,
and rebuild kits are available over the counter down here.
