I have a K8 Rochester Carburetor T002050 K8 that I ordered a rebuild kit for. The kit contains (3) ball-bearing type check valves. One larger size and two smaller sized. When I tore the unit apart in an attempt to rebuild it, I noticed there wasnt a check-ball in the accelerator pump? Which one should be installed there, the larger-sized ball or one of the smaller-ones? When looking through the master parts list I can see the part number 3.826 as what belongs there, however in the description it does not tell me the size for 1954? Would anyone know which one goes in there? They both seem to fit? (I think, Hard to tell) Thanks!
Well I think I figured it out....I tried both and the larger one is far better behaved. With the small one, it will backfire out the carb when punching it from a low-idle. The larger one apparently seals better and a stronger stream is present with no backfire. Well perhaps someone in the future can use this info. Thanks!
This is by memory - one is aluminum and smaller, and I -THINK- that one goes under a spring held in place by a 'T' shaped piece that presses into the carb body. Look at the diagram with the carb kit. The section on carbs in my shop manual spells out which ball goes where; and again, from memory, I think some later Rochester B's did not use a ball under the pump.
I think that Dave is right. They use the same two check balls in the early 4bbl. I recall using a magnet.
