Well started the motor tear down on the 999 looks like the auxiliary/balance/fuel pump shaft
needs a dentist...Slid it out now on the hunt for a new one.
Still need to tear down the rest of it.Just a quicky update.
Also fellow HAMBers in no way is this anyones fault
these motors are apperently known for this problem, due to "walking shaft".I guess i ran it pretty hard down the 1 1/2 mile dirt road that day..LOL
Anyone have a shaft they want to sell?1983-1988 Ford Ranger 2.3 Liter 4 banger Carbed motor..;-)
I will need the vac*** adavance dizzy too...

Well for those that G.A.S 999 is running again.
Just got to tie up a few loose ends and get the tires mounted.
    Tomorrow it should be legal.
i will find out how it really runs Saturday with the rear street tires.
i am stoked again, Thank you to all who have helped.

Ahh, i am too late. One other thing those motors are famous for is shearing the pin on the distr gear. Easy fix is to drill for 10-32 stainless screw and nut.
Sweet car. Cost me a lot of money really. I went to the showdaown last year for the first time, i walked up onto turn 1 from the parking lot as that car went by throwing dirt. I been gathering parts to build one ever since.
