Well started the motor tear down on the 999 looks like the auxiliary/balance/fuel pump shaft needs a dentist...Slid it out now on the hunt for a new one. Still need to tear down the rest of it.Just a quicky update. Also fellow HAMBers in no way is this anyones fault these motors are apperently known for this problem, due to "walking shaft".I guess i ran it pretty hard down the 1 1/2 mile dirt road that day..LOL Anyone have a shaft they want to sell?1983-1988 Ford Ranger 2.3 Liter 4 banger Carbed motor..;-) I will need the vac*** adavance dizzy too...

OK i have to Thank Clark Bates for not only selling me 999 but also removing from another engine and sending me the parts I needed to fix it for free! The 999 will be going to Lonestar Round Up(if it p***es their requirements). DRIVEN from Florida to Austin,TX and back.. New rear street tires will be going on next week.Yippppppeeee Thanks Clark!
Well for those that G.A.S 999 is running again. Just got to tie up a few loose ends and get the tires mounted. Tomorrow it should be legal. i will find out how it really runs Saturday with the rear street tires. i am stoked again, Thank you to all who have helped.
Glad to hear you have it running again and how about some pics with the new tires. Larry and I are also heading out to the Roundup...We'll see you there.
Here you guys are....Just need to paint the letters, the tire looks goofy all black.... also, runs great......
Ahh, i am too late. One other thing those motors are famous for is shearing the pin on the distr gear. Easy fix is to drill for 10-32 stainless screw and nut. Sweet car. Cost me a lot of money really. I went to the showdaown last year for the first time, i walked up onto turn 1 from the parking lot as that car went by throwing dirt. I been gathering parts to build one ever since.
Update here we are at garage day to build the Billetproof trophie Nite.... and a little pics for those of you who think i am not driving my cars...
