Hot Rods 9in Ford Axle length

    Trying to determine right axle length for a 9in Ford. Guy that I got the truck from said he shortened driver side to center housing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.... I will try to post pictures...

  2. while i'm sure there are many ways of measuring , and each axle maker seams to have a prefered way....i have found it's best to install the pumpkin in the rear housing . then take a broomstick ,cut it off square , slide it in past the splines until it bottoms out. mark the broomstick even width outer edge of the flange. it seams all axles guys can work with that

    keep in mind that there are a couple different dimensions for the distance between where the wheel bearing seats and the wheel mounting flange. that you should be able to get from your old axle
