I would enjoy that trip, but its going to be a 6200 + mile round trip, and could be a lot longer depending or how far from either end point you live. It is going to be interesting to see what the quarter mile times and speeds are going to look like when the hot rods have to do the 3,100 miles in addition to the quarter runs. I'm betting many will do the drag runs on one end of the trip or the other. It looks like 6 time slips on a drag strip (either a 1/4 or a 1/8 length) at 4 different tracks, any place across the country qualifies as the strip requirements. 400 mile days for 8 straight days in a row is a lot of road time, then add on getting back home! The trip back home usually ****s. Reading the rules covering this one might be interesting. Sounds pretty crazy, Jim should do very well with this one, but is Cheep up to the trip?
The Corvette would be far more sensible, and Cheep isn't up to the trip right now, but I have half a year to get that fixed. No matter where you live, it's a long drive. I found out about it from David Williams, who lives in Florida, so I guess for him it's about as long as could be. For me, not too bad, 2400 miles to NYC, 500 to get back home from socal. David ran one of the Gumball things a few years ago, so he has a little experience with it, he's also been on a few of the drag week type things.
