These are not truck manifolds, which stick out way too far to the side. These are aftermarket Chinese castings.

Yep, I am aware, I have a set of those on the shelf I bought just to have because I do a lot of LS swaps. Just saying that a lot of guys turn the truck manifolds around so they face the front if it is too tight to the back, cut off the factory flanges and weld on V band flanges with the crossover pipe up front.

It makes sense to have the crossover at the front if the turbo is going RF of engine bay. Shorter run (heat = energy) and leaves room for the downpipe to go down and back.
Jim, have you plugged in numbers (weight+ET = hp needed) yet? You mentioned 3000 lbs and 9s.
this says 600 HP will net a 9.96

It's been almost a week since hearing anything. This project might be finished by now.

Playing with mounts again. Trying to find where the engine wants to be, and how to support it there. I think it's pretty close, within 1/4" at least.

working on mounts. This is one of the frame brackets that held the original motor mount. I cut off the horizontal part of it that went to the mount for the inline engine, at about a 45 degree angle, and welded on a plate to build the new mount off of. It'll all make sense when it's in the car...but at least a little progress is happening.

no engine plate, I'm going to try stock Camaro mounts and see how it works. Might not work, but I'll only be out $25.

This is the progress so far...will get a flat plate across the top connecting the two "arms".

Me neither, but if they don't, we'll find out, eh?

The front/rear plates are 3/16 thick, the rest is 1/8.

    tacked in....

Might be time to pull the engine out and start getting it ready to reassemble.

I haven't seen any falcons around here lately...except a few that have been fixed up. But you might be surprised how light the brick is. Shipping weight was 2954 lbs, Falcons were only a couple hundred pounds lighter. I'm taking weight out of it, too.

    Hey @squirrel
Forgive my ability to use artistic license, but it would be so cool if there was a way to find come cool replacement letters that replace the word "JEEP" with what you see here, "CHEEP"
I know that is low priority at this point, but it does keep with the theme of indicating that this cool project was built with the thought of investing less money as possible!
    Just a thought.
    Thanks from Dennis.

    Simply magnificent!
    Bravo, well executed! Brilliant fabrication!
That is so cool that the word "CHEROKEE" provided the proper font and script!

Cheep Heap ? A buddy had a 4 door version of your square body Cheep Heep.. I often referred to it as a Heep. He did not care for my humor.

Needs something behind (or in front of) the CHEEP.
"Thrills", "Fun", "Heep" or "2" would work behind.
"Still", "Almost", or "Think" would work in front.
