I've been following this thread from the start. What an amazing accomplishment! Jeff, are you in the body and fender business or is this just something you do because you want to?
I love the lettering but I am still on the fence with the patina numbers.. I think I have a better idea for the rear end cover.
I agree about the patina'd numbers. Why would they be so worn when the other lettering is so crisp? Sent from my SM-G892A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I got my diamond seats back today and a great idea from Elgringo about Gibbs to freshen up the rears before the Gasoline magazine shoot tomorrow. I think it's the first time that i have washed the car.
The car looks great. Some metallic leaf lettering on the door instead of the one-shot would be killer. What a great car! You've done an amazing job! Hey, isn't it Willy's night at NHRA in Pomona this week? (Hint!) Or am I off?
This is whats next as soon as my blue car is drag strip ready! I'm not exactly sure WHY I'm building it....
I bought an insanely expensive SFI flexplate and Hemi transmission adapter from TCI for my transmission. I only started the car 5 times and now an area on the damn flexplate has worn teeth!!! Now I have to wait to get it sorted out before I can start it again!! I miss the days of American made!
I know nothing about early Hemi's, other than they're cool. Could it be a starter misalignment? Bad decisions make good stories.
Everything i do is a bad decision! I've second guessed, measured and inspected starter and flex plate a few times and I can't see anything odd. It started happening within the first few starts of this motor and everything is new out of the box.
To have gone from this To this and have done the build mostly by yourself you must have done something right It is all part of the journey and makes you wiser through the experience
One of the greatest build threads on this site. Thank you for the inspiration. Willys coupes are freaking awesome, one of my bucket list cars. The way you (and your buds) put this together is phenomenal. Sent from my SM-G930V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I spoke with TCI and they are absolutely useless! Powermaster was amazingly helpful as usual and we came to the conclusion that the aluminum crank hub flexplate spacer needs to be machined down a bit to pull the flex pate in closer to the starter. Either that or the flex plate isn't perfectly flat, It's only one area on the flex plate so I won't know until I take it off.
You might want to check the runout (both axes) before removal. Wear pattern looks like the ring gear is not flat to me, and distortion may relax after removal. (Problem could be related to the crank hub)??
