Finally was able to lay a little final paint on my truck somewhere.. Tonight it was the dash. I was reluctant to paint this gloss black because of the amount of cutting, welding etc that i did...But felt it just couldn't be any other color, partially for the same reason .. So tonight after final blocking i shot the paint.. Still need to wet sand and rub it... But for being sectioned in the middle close to 4" and cutting it into 5 pieces to make it fit, i'm pretty stoked at how it came out..Its a 56 Nomad dash in a 52 Chevy truck, and i'm using all 55 trim.. I havn't finished the body work on the end section's..Those are welded to the doors so when they close it look's like it should... Sorry for the shitty pics...cell phone cam.. That's all for now..back at it i go. Tony
Dammit, Tony, will you puleeze stop it! You're making me feel like I'm getting less & less accomplished (which is actually a sad fact! ) Seriously, lookin' schhweeeeeeet !!
Stop?? Man, i've been WAYYYYY behind this year!! Been helping a good friend build his shop so project time has been very rare.. This is like a feakin' milestone for me at this point..So much time has gone into this shitbox with the feeling like nothing's been getting accomplished. Kinda cool to lay down some color, even if it is only the dash. The chop it about 4"..It was already (hastily) shopped when i got it. I had to finish it, and do the door's.I think i took just about 4 out of them. Thanks guy's..much appreciated. Tony
Boy that makes my cab look like crap, thanks! Great job, the next thing I am doing on mine is filling the dash, I hope it comes out half that good. CHAZ
This is what i looked like when i got it..There was close to 1/4 of glass in places..Some of the worst fabricating i've run across..and just ugly. Every thing was filled in, including the defrost vents..had to find them and open 'em back up..and with the work that was done to the stock dash it just wasn't worth trying to save it.
Sorry man If'n ya saw the amount of work it needed you'd be happy with what ya got i'm sure! haha Seriously, thank's guy's. Tony.
So i was back at it again tonight.. Wet sanded and rubbed the dash, then dug through my shit and found all the trim.. Did a quick mock up with the bit's and pieces to see how it's gonna look.. The trim is all 55 Chevy with the little bowtie's..I just like them more than the 56 trim.. I'm using a radio delete plate, and instead of the Belair script in the speaker i went with the 150 'Chevrolet' instead.. Fit's better being a truck... Here's a few more pics from the cel phone again. (Sorry about that, but grabbing my camera is the last thing on my mind when i head out to work on this) Please pay no mind to the floating control arm's in the background..we've been practicing our magic as well as building cars. We're getting pretty good too Tony-
I posted them a while back when i was in the process of fabing it up... But here's basically what i have. I just cut it until it fit, then welded it back together..making filler pieces where needed. I left a couple inches of the stock truck dash in place to weld the 56 to..and to also maintain the factory defrost vent's of the truck dash. The outside section's of the dash are now part of the door as you can see..And the door's are suicide so it's kinda cool when they open and there's a chunk of the dash attached to them...at least i think so anyway Thanks. Tony
Nice work, that dash looks really good in there and still chevy related. With all the mods on the outside the inside needed some good looking eye candy too and now it does.
