My Pal Ron Pickford, out of the Blue... sent me a few old snapshots of his youth.... His A Flathead Coupe... 1958.
He drove his Hotrod daily.. summer, winter.... all around the Toronto area back then.
The pic with the woman was his future mother in law.. who as Ron quoted" The gal posing after checking out the "Flathead" graphic by Tom Duquette is my future mother in law and not impressed by Tom's great work on the lime green dripping brain matter."

I have never heard of Tom Duquette.
But it jumps out like an old Mag ad from Honk!

Life was simple then .. not complicated and twisted like today.
Ron was a child of the the Second World War ..... leaving England with his family after WWII.... starting new in Canada.
He was good friends with an old pal of mine ,Duke Brown.... who came to Canada under the same circumstances,
Duke was responsible for getting me into Early Fords,.... so so long ago.

Duke passed a few years ago. and I miss that man daily .....

But Ron, is still Kicking ass and going hard at 86.Driving his early Ford T-Bird.
Man. the stories I have from heard these guys..... Never to be repeated.

    Great stuff Jeff.
Ron's Mother in Law doesn’t look old enough to be a Mother In Law....
    Kidding. ;) of course.

Mother in laws just don't get it. Mine was really pissed when we bought a Corvette 2 weeks after getting married.

I have posted some of these pics before ... and some are still buried in my old Hard drives....
but here are a few more ..... Not so much of Ron.... but the club and fellas that hung round from 55 to about 1970.
If my info is incorrect..I am trying to remember from what I know.....

Here is another shot of Ron's Coupe.. and the second 2 pics are of Duke Browns 31 A coupe that was Olds Powered and a 3x2 set up.
Again.. these were driven through the summer and winter.

I remember asking Duke "where are all the 32 Roadster and Coupes?"
(because all the pics of everyone were 95% Model A's...All Coupes)
    He stated....
"Nobody could afford a 32 Coupe.... they were $75... A Coupes were bought for $10-$20 bucks, A real good A coupe ..running was $25 Bucks"

Also. in the NorthEast.... not many had any roadsters... useless for fall, winter and spring daily drivers.
You can see the 2 bottom pics are dated 1960 and 1961 respectively.

This is a shot outside of the Clubhouse.

Great thread...and the all season stuff is pretty typical I'll bet...

The 40 Rag belonged to Ron Pickford(I think) and the 57-58 Meteor was a members car..... I can't remember hahahaha
Gotta remember... these guys were just kids working from NOTHING... and Learning everything from the Little Pages Books....
