    Hi Folks,
We're deep into the dark Scottish winter, but dreaming of summer in Sweden. Is anyone else from the UK planning a trip to the Old Style Weekend in Sweden this year? If so, we'd love to here from you and maybe travel in convoy. Also, if you've done the trip from the UK before, which route did you take? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    See ya,
    Gus and Mo

    Hi Jim,
It looks quite expensive. We can go from Newcastle (closest to Scotland) to Amsterdam and drive up to the top of Denmark before crossing to Gothemburg. It looks like a week's round trip though. There are sailings from Harwich to Esbjerg in Denmark, but that costs about £350 per person return. Then you still need to do the Fredrickshavn to Gothemburg ferry as well - and the timings are not good, so an overnight stay in Denmark is needed too. Where are you and what are you thinking of driving over?

P.S. sorry I took so long to reply, but I wasn't subscribed to this thread for some reason.

Do you know when the meeting is this year? I planning my vacation to Sweden.
It is more miles to drive but you can do A crossing from Puttgarden Germany to Rodbyhaven 45minuts Denmark and Helingor Denmark to Helsingborg Sweden 25minuts. No neet fore boeking and cost fore car around 250euro round trip.

    Have fun planning Diedelson

Thanks for that Devilscustom. Really looking forward to it now we have a real date.

We are now thinking the easiest route from Scotland is drive to Newcastle, ferry to Amsterdam, drive up to Frederickshavn in Denmark and cross to Gothenburg on the short ferry crossing. Anyone else going from the UK?

If the ferry from newcastle to Norway still runs, that would perhaps be an easier way.

It's a shame the dates clash with the Hayride.

I think the best way is to take a ferry from Newcastle to Gothenburg

Unfortunately, that service was discontinued a couple of years ago.

Wasn´t the Hayride a week after A-bombers last year? Would love to go straight from A-bombers to the hayride.

    Hi Gus and Mo.
I have been there for the past 10 years via varoius routes. Unfortunately with the demise of all ferry routes direct to Sweden from the UK it either means an expensive trip or a long drive. I am planning to go back this year but haven't decided what route yet. Give me a call on 01698 793504 and I can give you more details.

To make the trip even more worth the drive.:):)

On 23-24 july there is the Power Hot Rod Reunion in Malmby, Strängäs.

On your way to the A-bombers there is Hot Rod Drags at Mantorp Park,

After the A-bombers meeting on your way back you can drive past the Viking Run in Roskilde Danmark. It is held on 6,7 and 8 August. www.viking-run.dk

Actually, Hayride is 2-3 july this year, and A-bombers is 30-31 july, so no need to worry, ;)
