Love the East Coast look to it...........much like the cars I grew up seeing and loving. Hiboys are great, but ya gotta love a deeply channeled Deuce coupe. :)

I understand tail-dragging Customs, but I don't get the 'dog dragging his *** on the carpet' stance of todays Hot Rods. I remember Customs as *** down, Hot Rods as *** up...must be an East Coast only thing?

Larry, I am with you. I love this car but to me it needs a 3 inch lift in the hind quarters.

  12. That's a great Hot Rod, but as already said, it needs a little rake to it.
It would look great in my shed, either way. :D

The key to keeping the hot rod rake we like when channeling a car is done by doing a "wedge" or "taper" channel. Cut the cowl heavier than the rear and the dreaded east coast *** dragger look disappears!

  14. That stance looks pretty good on a 32... looks a lot better than that stance on a Model A!

Sorry ,I am 100% with 3w Larry , in my opinion the stance is off for a traditional car. The rear tyre to body profile is upsetting visually. Super low is not always the best. Remember it's not how fast you look it's how you look goin fast. First impressions count, and my first impression is squashed, for what it's worth.

Have to agree with Mad here, bring that channel up about 3 inches in the rear. Still a nice Hot Rod....

Damn, I'm 70 years old and I guess I still don't know what a "traditional" hot rod looks like, cause I think it is a great representation on a early '50's east coast hot Rod.

It is interesting that most of the guys not liking the stance are from the left part of America. We who grew up on the East Coast loved this exact look, and we couldn't understand why people would leave a perfectly good Deuce or Model A sitting on top of the frame ! :) Nope, this car is PERFECT, maybe not to our West Coast friends, but certainly to those of us who grew up in the East.

But this discussion isn't new........there was always an East Coast VS West Coast rivalry. I remember the saying "We don't give a damn how they do it in California ! " Looks like that still holds true. :D If I were to build a 32 it would be channeled just about like this one.

I grew up in Hudson Valley of NY and this car is what I dreamed of in study hall in the 50s, having seen similar cars around the state and over in CT. I still remember getting my first ride in one, owned by a kid named Barry Strom, it was a '32 5W that sat like this one with a 322 Buick for power. Really nice car, quintissential East Coast hot rod from the "little book" period.

To me it's not a channeled/hiboy debate...it's about stance. I like channeled cars with the right stance...

I like at least a fist above the top of the tire...your mileage may vary

It's been said but I'll add mine. Perfect east coast style from the little pages. So depending on where you grew up VERY TRADITIONAL. Like Don said "We don't give a damn how they do it in California".

Not all east coasters were *** draggers; mine is a wedge channel that was done way back when...in PA. Either way that's a great lookn' old rod! 9928C5B9-DA96-425D-8251-DBAD7950A703.jpeg

Very nice hot rod! I like them both ways, I think the down low east coast look gives the car a touch of evil look. The rear higher stance gives more of a race feel.

I'm a east coast guy and have seen this style all my life and this is a great looking car and no disrespect to the owner but I have to admit I have always been a big fan the stink bug hot rod look..nose down ,**** up! HRP

I have to agree with HRP on the rake thing. But that coupe reminds me of one running around Stamford CT. back in the day! I like it. It looks period.
