Couple of my favorites. Chopped all steel 32, no bondo what so ever on the chop job. All perfeclty done hammer welding. Milk truck type wheels he stole for $100 a pair. Seen them go for $1000 each 32 Blown Hemi Roadster [/
Both are good lookin' cars,,but I don't get everyone's fascination with milk truck wheels,,They just look like painted dubs to me,,but I'm old what the heck do I know. HRP
I agree, first time I saw the coupe it had old American 5 spoke mags with slicks on it, thought it looked MUCH better with them and fit the theme with the blown sbc better. Never thought of it but "dubs", yeah, maybe thats why i don't like milk trucks!
My thoughts exactly! Well, sort of... I think they look perfect on a bellytank or highly modified LSR car. They belong there. On a street car, they just make it look like a tractor...
Agreed. Only place they look appropriate is when coupled with Firestone Indy tires on a compe***ion styled car where is was a necessity. On another note, I do like that coupe a whole bunch and love the engine even more...even though it does fit that style car. It's up for sale right now on the eb@y.
The 5W is a very nice hot rod, owned by Jamie Johnson in Albuquerque,NM. Very well thought out and lots of interesting touches. As stated, car is for sale and just needs paint and interior.
ive known jamie johnson and his dad jim since i was a baby!!! everytime i see him we talk for a while and always opens his doors to me at hot rod haven. and yes metalman i agree it looked bad *** with the red primer and mags on it. the first 32 5 window i got to sit in his 32 tudor, and 28-29 modified, and the tub he was building form scratch are the **** too!!! im suprised he isnt on this site, since hes a die hard traditionalist when it comes to his rides
He's too busy building Hot Rods. If any of you guys are in ABQ stop by his shop, Hot Rod Haven. Jamie and his dad JJ are great guys! They'll give you a tour a tour of the shop. That picture was taken at our car club picnic Saturday. That 29 Roadster between the 2 32's belongs to JJ.
Great looking pair of deuces. That A roadster is even better. Those 20" accessory wheels were never used on the dry lakes and quite frankly he paid the right amount for them. $1000 each for those is a joke..... paid by people jumping on a band wagon. The 18" K/H high clearance wheels are the ones that were run on the dry lakes and Bonneville due to being the right size for the Firestone Indy tyres. Also front tyre choice is paramount when using such a large diameter rear, it is all about proportion. Those motorcycle tyres are too small. Sorry for the rant!
doc, here you go. Al. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...4106822?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3f030cbfc6
Little history on the 29 roadster, you guys might get a kick out it. Jim was wandering around a field of old cars in the early 70's ( back when we still had fields of vintage tin lying around!) and stumbled over a roadster windshield post buried in the ground. When he started digging the post out he found it still attached to the roadster. Dug the whole car out of the ground, it was completely buried except the top of the windshield post. Being here in the desert it was below the average moisure line so it wasn't really rusted too bad. True story, ask Jim, he has the pics to prove it! He took it home, built it and been driving it for 35 or so years!
Great work by 2 locals who are respected by many in Albq. They are solid individuals - cl*** act men (Jaime and jim). It is always a pleasure to see their work in person. The wheels may not be for everyone, but sometimes you gotta try something different. -Noel
Anyone know who made these headers? EDIT: Nevermind. Thought they looked like my Edelbrocks but they are different. Love that 5wd!!! JH
Look an awful lot the ****** headers my Dad used on a '33 tudor many years ago. They were made for an early ('58ish) Corvette and fit between the Ford rails.
