I never said I was going to lie to the guy. He knows my intentions. He lives across the street from the house I grew up in, so I have know him for quite some time. I didn't know he had the car until a few years ago, when I mentioned that I wanted to build one. He had it in his garage, buried, which is in the back of the house where you can't see it from the street. I have an A coupe right now that needs everything to get it going. His is complete, that is why I am interested. I talked to him today about it joking if he had moved it from the garage and he said he moved it outside. It has been outside now for a few weeks. He said that this is the longest it has been outside since he has owned it. He moved it so that a guy could come look at it; that was interested in buying it. He said the guy didn't want it because he thought it needed too much work. If he wants to see work he should see the one I have.

There are a lot of them, but I don't have the money for about 90% of them.

  9. Heard 30 years ago in TX...

"Be careful with my Model A!"

    "Don't worry bro, I will!"

  10. Oh I dunno. I went out with a chick once, I hadn't seen her nekedness yet but I was so sure I wanted her that I bought her an extra order of fries to go with her big mac.

I guess the post is more about the fella telling us he heard about a Model A that has been under wraps for a log time than anything else. I mean hell even a flimflam man knows that you shouldn't lie to your buddy.

Just make him a fair offer for the car.He already knows what you want to do with it.After all the BS tire kickers lowball him he might just give in and sell it to you.If you don't get it no big deal there is always another car for sale and usually a better deal too.I have done this before and it works pretty good.Good Luck.

Same thing happened to me a while ago. I tried to buy a 32 Chevy roadster from a guy who wouldn't sell it to me because I'd build it into a hot rod so he sold it to another guy who immediately flipped it to another Hot Rodder. I say screw'm. If it's for sale - it's for sale! What right does someone have to tell you how to build a car you paid for. I know I'll never missout on a deal like this again.

  14. Yea, its an awful lot like when your new girls ex boyfriend tells you what to do with her.

I once tried to buy a Model A in my neighborhood, the owner asked me what I was going to do with it and I told him I wanted restore it to a nice drivable condition. He called me a "liar" and said he knew I was going to hot rod it because thats what everyone my age (about 22 at the time) is doing these days. I really just wanted to do as I stated, just fix it up a little (leave the patina and rust and just get it to stop and go...and put around on the weekends. So instead he sold it for less than I offered to an older gentlemen who claimed he was going to restore it, Last time I seen it, it had Boyd wheels and tweed interior......I smiled the whole time when I told him what the new owner had done to it.

    This thread is so sad....
I was thinking....if I was the employer of these two coworkers (the owner and prospective buyer) and came across this thread....I'd fire his *** on the spot.
