So I moved my front cross member on my 30 coupe forward 1 1/4" to clear the bottom pulley on my blown sbc. The caris fendered. Not to noticeable but I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to get my wheelbase back. It has a drop axle with the spring over a 4 link. Thinking maybe 35 and later with the spring ahead of the axle ? different spring perches ? Any ideas wold be great. Thanks

Any spring in front setup is going to move the wb back about 6 inches, not the amount you are wanting to do it. You would have been better off leaving the crossmember where it was, especially on a fendered car, but move the motor back the amount you needed. Yes, it entails some firewall recessing, but at least your grille shell will end up in the spot where it looks right.

  3. 1-1/4" on a fendered car WILL be noticeable

any chance of moving the engine back?
