i have a '53 chevy 3100 series truck. the bed is 6' 6" on the inside and 6' 8" overall. this is supposed to be a short bed.

    here is my truck

now here is another one. it is a members truck, but i don't know whose. look at the bed on this one. the area between the rear fender and the front bed post looks to be about 6" shorter than mine. i have 13" between that front of the rear fender and that brace. this green truck looks more like 5" or 6" in that area.

    anyone have a clue here.

quick google came up with the 3100 had a 116 wheelbase and the 3600 and 3700s had 125.25 wheelbase.

Yes it looks like the green truck the bed has been shortened. In the green truck pic the running boards look shorter, so are the filler panels between the bed and running board.

The pic of your truck appears to be stock length.

Heres a pic of my 49 in comparison

Thanks guys. The more I look at that green truck, the more I see different. Even the front wheel seems to be farther back in the wheel well. Maybe that truck is on a different frame and the bed was shortened to make the frame fit?

Chopped to fit the short S-10 frame I bet. The extended cab s-10 fits the AD.
