Not one hour ago I posted a thread that was of a brake light safety concern that arose on my daily driver that I felt was significant enough & my moral obligation to bring to our readers attention, I only briefly mentioned that this issue was found of my 1997 Silverado, however it would be a significant safety concern on my own 32 sport coupe & any street rod for that matter. I had in fact asked readers for thoughts on how to incorporate my findings, come on now !!!! ……At least an hour, now 2 hours or so I collectively gathered needed info. to outline these findings has it all been for nothing ????? It would renew my confidence in our mission if you could please reconsider. Thanks, Ron
Hey man... We don't cover late model topics like that. Sorry. Maybe try Facebook to reach more people with your concerns?
If I might ask did anyone read the full context of the thread ? Where can I find the original thread can it be forwarded back to me ? with all due respect I really don't see the logic of the deletion as we all incorporate new/old components for speed/reliability/safety etc. albeit engine/trans/ seat belts/ power brakes on & on my 32 is old school too with exception for a 302 power plant. I really stand in disbelief Ryan that safety takes a back seat & would hope if the wording 1997 Silverado could be omitted it would make the post, curious to know if members could help to incorporate this safety idea.
I didn't see your post. Sorry man... We serve thousands of members... and when someone posts something off topic, we get attacked by post reports. As a result, we don't allow modern car discussion at all... This is, after all, a forum dedicated to pre-65 traditional hot rod and customs only.
Okay Ryan, Still the best on line, would like to get the original post back if it hasn't been lost to some cloud out there, & the moderator might be known. Will re-do it with no modern vehicles or modern components mentioned, but it still strikes be strange when we discuss t-5 gear boxes, 350 combo's & the likes, but understood from your end . Thanks, still hanging on,. Thanks, Ron
Yeah, I deleted that thread..... seems easy enough to me to just periodically safety check your car to make sure things are in working order. We don't deal in modern here (except for a few hidden things like disk brakes and od trans)....
Thanks for the return; I early on felt more than a bit dismayed when my post was deleted when I felt it might save a nasty rear collision, I usually get over such things before spouting off & after my back & forth communication with Ryan I too can appreciate his/your position. During the two weeks or so working off & on over my daily driver searching out the culprit my thoughts reverted to my 32 & the many other Hamb members that could unknowingly be driving without brake lights so I carried on, determined to search it out & share my findings . As mentioned in the original deleted thread as many as 6 wires can feed through a stop light pedal switch depending on the accessories incorporated & a severed stop light wire can delete the brake lights spelling pending disaster . It was my hopes someone more savvy with the circuits could chime in for a dash light warning connection. I have yet to see if my 32 has the similar white feed wire as my daily driver which would be a tap in point as this wire is only hot when the pedal is depressed & is often time used for trailer brake lights etc. If this further clears the air feel free to post this account or if not let me know how I can reword the deleted thread & will oblige,. Thanks again for your return. Ron
I copied and pasted your deleted thread and sent it in a PM to you as a courtesy. There is nothing to reword to post it again. 32 fords didn’t have 3rd Brake lights. The HAMB is pre 65 Hot Rods and Custom Car and trucks . Updated breaks we have allowed. The rest - no - not going to allow it. Why ? Because we keep allowing updated modern day **** like back up cameras , GPS’s, 3rd brake lights , driverless Hot Rods , you mind as well go look at www.Tesla.com You folla ?
Lets be clear I'm talking a concealed dash light not an exterior 3 rd. brake light. Enough said. Thanks, Ron
That may be true, but at least one wire as my original thread stated & lose that & brake lights go with it; make no mistake guys, I was only responding to keep our valued cars in one piece & everyone heathy, now if we can only survive the virus & get back to cruising. Stay safe, Ron
