I would leave it alone, or sell it to me and buy the coupe you really want. No since in wasting your time working on it. JK! I'l jealous as hell.

thanks again , for the brush rental saturday..:D hopefully the panels made someone some money...what type of finish are thinking on this ride..?

hoping to get my coupe back to my place for a engine swap and some new paint on the firewall...got a little less than a month , as local track opens first weekend in april....

    ...:D thanks again

you might have to try telling people that your model a is a "rare" big window coupe....lol and see how many catch it....

  23. I think you've caught the "look" and stance quite well.
Drag coupes of the 50's sat very similar to yours and the jacked up look came in during the early 60's.

Not too many, especially spectators realize the fender rule for gassers.
Leave it as is and in fact, B/G is pretty close to the right class assuming a 327 CID.

If I remember right, altereds were allowed a 25% engine setback.
Gassers were allowed a 10% setback.

The engine height rule was 24" from crank nose center to the ground.

The 462" Buick engine in my 32 roadster sits 15" back - measured from front axle centerline to furthest forward spark plug hole.
The engine sits in the right place for a street runner and the firewall is flat with only a dimple for the left head.

    With a 106" wheelbase the 32's 15" setback is almost 15%.

My 1987 rulebook shows street roadsters, gas class cars having an allowed 10% setback, but perusing photos of a couple of drag roadsters from the early 60's shows about a 15%-18% setback.

Imo, screw the jacked up bit for a gas class appearing street runner and leave the front end height where you have it.

    Works for me....

  25. Looks good. But, I'm not crazy about the white idea. Body color on frame (or maybe black), and chrome the supension

I keep getting distracted by your shop(s). Personaly I liked the look of the first picture. However that being said, the final shot with the slotted mags looks very old skool. I see you have a few FED's, something I would like to get into (after the rod is done) are you racing them?

Still looking for the right colors........I now have the "Traditional Trendy" gold engine, the headers will be white and also the firewall.........I am still lost on body color? Maybe 1962 era? Any help would be apreciated.

Royalshifter, How about a fine metallic silver?Don't know about '62 for the silver, but I think it would look kinda nice!Or how about Metal Flake BLACK? Can't go far wrong with a drop of Flake!:D:D
