Rudy, there is no way your 40 could not be welcomed at damned near any show anywhere!

It's not that I didn't feel welcomed at the show, That couldn't be farther from the truth. It's kinda hard to explain.

I guess I'm just getting old [IMG] [IMG]

But thanks Dan You're a great friend(DBF Bro)

  3. Fab32: That Merc was a Hotrod. It was different. The car belonged to a friend of Magnets', named Dean. Check this out, it's a true home built. In the pic here is Cpt. Fancypants giving us the nickel tour. [IMG]

Slammed: I really wanted to meet ya and was bummed I didn't when I found out you were there. Your a positive force on the board.

Thirdyfivepickup: We'll get together in the future, in the meantime I'll keep the beer cold.

Roadstar: Your ride screams Traditional and will be the benchmark for everybody's future builds around here. A couple of pretty trick car building friends of mine can't get over how nice the car is and love the way the car sits. No apple polishing here folks, just the facts.

Zettle Bros.: You guys are gods. That "Goat" was WICKED! Definately the talk of the show.

  4. Oh, and by the way, Why do I like this truck so much?

At the show it kinda talked to me. After seeing my pic, I fell in love with it. Who would of thought a old, beat looking, in need of a restoration would look so good. I think the stance and that wheel and tire combo really makes it.

Slammed, I had a idea to have all the HAMBr's in attendence sign the banner for a auction. Didn't work out.

I gave it to the Michigan contingent(HRLC) to use where ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe Denise could put it up for auction here anyways.

The banner was made with the intention of taking it to shows and events that HAMB folks gather at so it will be easier to meet each other and hang out. I think that it is quite evident by the amount of people that for the past week have been saying to each other, "I didn't know you were there," "Boy sure would have been nice to meet you", "I missed the Meet and Greet spot", etc, that a central gathering spot marked by a banner of some sort, has been needed for a while. I commend Joel for taking the initiative on not only designing the banner but making it as well. I have checked into the costs of this in the past and it not cheap to do.

Next year this banner will make it to The Jalopy Showdown, BilletProof-Detroit, Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, GG Indy, Syracuse, Broken Dreams Cruz, L'ville, Speed Week, HAMB Drags, Kzoo, HCP, not to mention a few others that I'm sure are slipping my mind plus some others that are maybes at this point.

If Joel doesn't mind I think HAMB members signing it at shows is a great idea. Members have been doing that for years with all kinds of stuff.

Also, something else that I noticed, which was especially evident at the HCP was the fact that alot of HAMB folks there did not have cars inside the fairgrounds. A HAMB spot would give these folks a location to place chairs, coolers, etc. The summer and a half that I went without a car to shows was awlful. If I wanted to carry anything in I had to find somewhere to put it. The HAMB banner at shows will be the place for all to gather that feel like actually meeting other HAMB folks.

I don't think anyone wants it to end up on a garage wall never to be seen again. [IMG]

  8. Denise, Right on sister! I always knew women were smarter then men.

I'm glad that banner will be put to good use. Let me know if ya ever need more.

I think signing it will give the banner that "HAMB character"(tm). [IMG]

  11. HAMB banners will never be a problem around here. I will always be a PM away. You'll be surprised how fast and nice I can make 'em. [IMG]

    How about another car pic!

Yeah my buddy Dean started that merc 3 years ago.. i aint usually one for shine.. but after 6 months of sanding... i like it on this car.
That car was bought out of a barn in illinois.. origially from the deep south.. he bought the car.. and a trailer to haul it home.. all at once :)
Tried hard to get the flatty unstuck.. but couldnt get it to spin..
He made the grill teeth out of 2-1/2" stainless elbows tig'd together.. lots of cool fabing.. the garnish moulding for the windows is welded.. not overlapped.. the marker lights.. are hand made.. sockets and lenses..and frenched into the underside.
Everything is adapted and adjusted just to the way he likes it.. just a smidge.. a little bit.. not too over the top but not too plain.
3-1/2" chop.. split the roof instead of bending the pillars too much.. lots of good customizing.. from a master.. believe it or not this is only his first real custom.. aside from that camero back in the 80's :)
He has doing bikes for a while and decided to make a merc for his wife..
    This is her grocery getter.
Not real often you see a lowered merc without skirts...
I like that look... blackwalls and no skirts

    Anyway

I'm sorry I missed seeing Deano's Merc live and in technicolor the day of the show. Magnet has been showing us build pics and it has come a long way. I also am a big fan of the skirtless look.

Rudy, your car is just SICK. I'm very glad I at least got to check it out Friday night. Something to aspire to...

  14. Did I tell youse guys about all the cool bands at the Pile Up. Here's a band that "Rock'd da House" around 2p. One of the reasons I missed the Meet 'n Greet, plus not checking my watch. [IMG]

    Hot Rod Hucksters!

ALL the bands rocked, but yes, I AM partial to this one. [IMG] It was an interesting experience trying to cram an amp, our suitcases and guitars into the '36. No wonder all the street rodders buy trailers. [IMG] You should have seen Hellfish and I trying to get his upright bass into his '59. Damn door posts... [IMG]
