These were my grandfathers. I have no idea how old they are--the tire guage says for Balloon tires--made by Shrader $ Sons Inc. the grease gun is an Alemite model 6562 mfg. by stewart warner corp anyone know how old??
Brass I'll fathom a guess. How about the 30s. I got a set of wrenches from a Model A tool kit. Found them taped to the back of one of the drawers in the Ol' Man's roll around. And a note: "Son, I wonder how long it took you to find these. I've had them a long time and thought you might like them some day." Of course its going to be a while before I can tell him when I found them. I hope. Anyway doesn't matter how old they are they are your heritage. Enjoy them.
There is a good tool forum on the HAMB's sister site - The Garage Journal. Those guys know there tools. A post there will get you a lot of feed back. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=4
Here's a bounce for nmbuellist. I know one of you fellas has the definative answer. What are the patent dates on those tools?
Show whole greasegun...that general type was used in early Ford kits in different sizes and tips over the years...there was a distinctive common Ford handle loop. I can probably match up numbers and produce a year range in I grub around in the basement some. That type and pouch of Scrader pressure gauge was offered as an option on Model A's, but that exact one is well marked with Ford engravings you would have noticed. As a generic gauge, it goes waaaay back to the teens or so and was offered in several pressure ranges. Porknbeaner, that is a GREAT family moment. A note from the beyond, I take it! Can you post pics of the tools??
New pic of the handle--I can't see any patent dates, teens on the guage-I knew it was old it goes up to 47 lbs
Grease gun has Ford type handle. Diameter of barrel will give date range used. Think it is later '30s onward, one of the fat ones
