Nice T in the best Norm Grabowski tradition. I could never understand how T buckets went from his look to the brass era look that they devolved into. Cool Ride.
It's a really cool looking ride and with all the good comments here, who says T buckets don't get respect. Well done!
I'm a huge fan of fiberglass cars, if there done right. Your's is done right. It's got that built in the 60's look. VERY nice job. Start a photo album here so we can check back & see your progress.
You did a very nice job on your car.Do you have any pictures of the 1/4 springs mounting to the frame(top/side/bottom)? Fred
Just got in from work and checked the thread. Thanks for all the comments. I've been driving it every chance I get, including a 230 mile road trip. It's blast to drive! 500 miles so far. I agree. I think Norm got it right with the Lightnin' Bug. Even the Kookie car was a little over the top for me. Not much on the brass cars either. I've got a lot of build pics. I'll work on an album. This is what I have. Mike
Hi MIke In the last picture there is a short pipe at the rear of the mount. Are you using that for a stop or what? Fred
Fred I wanted the rear bolt to be a backup to the others, since the rear bolts carry the most load. The two rear bolts should be strong enough to carry the load by themselves, but I thought a little extra safety factor couldn't hurt. The tube serves as a solid spacer so the bolt could be tightened independent of the others. If I was building this car over, I would fab a soild welded pocket to hold the rear of the spring. Mike
I bought the tapered perch bolt bushings and c-shaped pieces for the batwings from the Welder Series. I built everything else.
Really like your car. It has the look. I've only built 1 T-bucket and I did that for Speedway Mtrs. back in the mid 90s. Used a chopped deuce shell on that one to, really makes the car.
Thanks for the kind words everybody. I know "traditional" means different things to different people, but I tried to give the car my idea of a traditional look. Royalshifter said it was a "very RESPECTFUL car". That means a lot on the HAMB (to me, at least). Mike
nice ride...im in the process of building a bucket right now and if mine turns out half as nice as that, i'll be happy!
How much trouble would it be to get a pic of the bracket that holds your muffler/turnout in place? I'm running the same setup on my '29 and would really like to see how you made the rear bracket. I really like the ideas on your car, and hope mine comes out as good. Thanks, Mike
